Stripe Out

The mini dress that's both flattering and fashion forward is staple piece in ones wardrobe. Plain black dresses can be boring so I opted for something with an edge, I've been vibing off stripes as of late and thought this dress could be worn both day and night so I purchased it! Since Fall and cooler weather is fast approaching I figured I'd just add tights and a leather jacket so I could rock this all season long.

I can't remember the last time I blogged! Shame on me, I've been so busy trying to shoot for Style Feen Shop and totally neglected blogging. I haven't even blogged about going to visit homeland, Brazil. I've been adding new products to the shop and wanted to post about them on here! Style Feen Shop has always been about catering to the modern day fashionista who is both vulgar and outspoken because fuck conforming to the cookie cutter mold society has for us. Doing you is your main goal and telling it like it is, is ours. Style Feen Shop embodies my vulgar and silly personality and this is why I enjoy designing, styling, shooting and managing the shop because it's everything I love to do and more. There's vulgar pieces, bits of photography references and sassy phrases that allows me to be me and you to be you.

Sometimes you gotta bust out the faux leather and choker to feel like a sexy little beast. I recently got a haircut to shape my curls and I completely adore the volume!! So of course when you feel good, you radiate goodness. I've been vibing on bodysuits and high waist anything to go out in so this outfit was inspired by club nights and date nights. I linked up with Jill who found this place to shoot and the lighting was what I live for, the shadows and white walls are a photographer's dream come true.

Curly Hair Recap

Can we talk about my curly hair for a second? As some of you know I've always struggled with my curls and it took a long time to finally understand it and learn how to love it. Every curly girl knows the struggle and it's definitely not something you learn overnight. I cut my hair about 2 months ago to get the cut that would allow me to have the volume and shape I've always wanted and I'm forever grateful to Mona at Muze Salon in NY. I was hunting down which products worked well with my hair because I have a lot of it and needed something to not only moisturize it, but define my curls by holding it as well. My current obsession with DevaCurl started when I found out about their Winter Curl Survival Kit which included the cleanser, one conditioner and the supercream (THE BEST THING EVER) I then decided to make the purchase. All those 3 products cost $72 and because it was in a kit form it was only $40 and I like me a deal, so if I were you I'd go buy this before it's no longer available! My review on those products are also on my Youtube Channel, check it out HERE.

Recently I decided to try out a new product that I found out about via Instagram called Bounce Curl. I'm usually not about the gel life, but because all the reviews online were amazing, I said I might as well try it out and I'm glad I did. In this new video I just posted on Youtube you'll see I used Bounce Curl (unfortunately they're sold out, but subscribe to their newsletter to know when they'll be back in stock) and Garnier Fructis Leave In Conditioner as a cream to hydrate and moisturize and the gel to define and give my curls the extra hold they need to provide me with 2 and 3 day hair! This video was more to show how I turn a more defined curl look into something bigger and more playful by using a hair pick which can be found at your local beauty shop for a few bucks. Hair pick's are a must have tool to add volume and to achieve a perfect shape. Embrace your curls people!!! And if you're trying to re-start with heat damaged hair due to straightening and blow drying? CUT OFF the dead ends, there is NO product that can help heat damage. I had to cut off all my hair twice to achieve healthy hair because clearly I needed to learn the lesson of embracing my curls more than once. I understand your pain and curly hair is work, but it's NOT boring and it IS sexy.

PS. Embrace the frizz.

Road to Curlovery!

So a lot of people on Instagram have messaged me about how I got my curls back after using the flat iron for so long. I figured I'd dedicate a blog post on what I did and what worked for me in my curly hair journey! Each curl pattern is different so not everyone will achieve my results so take what you have and own it and enjoy it by embracing it. In my curly hair journey I have found educating myself about my hair to be the best thing I could have done to get my hair back. After many years of using the flat iron, occasionally bleaching my hair and neglecting it, it really did a number on my curl pattern. So here is what I did to STOP the constant damage, first I told myself I rather have healthy short curly hair than ugly half straight half curly heat damaged long hair. So about 2-3 years ago:

I CUT OFF ALL MY HAIR:
So about 2-3 years ago I said fuck it all! I was frustrated with damage, I was mad at myself for allowing my hair to get messed up yet again and I just chopped all my hair off! I'm not saying go cut off all your hair, that's just what I did because I was ready to start fresh. I got rid of all my dead ends and had very short hair, I cried in frustration because I wish I had learned my lesson the first 10x. I say if your trying to restore your curls, you don't have to necessarily start from zero, you can cut off a few inches every few months and do it gradually that way.

I STOPPED USING THE FLAT IRON EXCESSIVELY:
After cutting off my hair, I decided to only use the flat iron for birthdays and New Years. I wanna say I straightened my hair at least 2-3 times a year which was definitely an improvement from the 15-20 times I was doing before. Even though I was straightening my hair very rarely, it was still causing damage to my curl pattern. You see... I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my curl pattern, hence why I completely stopped straightening my hair, it's been about 6 months of no flat iron. I've noticed a huge improvement in my curls just from quitting straightening cold turkey. You may be able to use the flat iron in moderation and still be okay and I envy you for that, but I just KNOW my hair from the many years of tears, that it's sensitive to heat.

I STOPPED BLEACHING MY HAIR EXCESSIVELY: I'm not going to lie, I did ombre on my hair last year and I rocked it out, but I found bleach made my hair EXTREMELY DRY so I stopped that too. I decided to dye my hair back to brown and leave it alone. I also found the ombre was a little too harsh for my complexion and too contrasty for my liking. I do want to add a little caramel color in my hair here and there in the future to add some warmth, but I'm almost too scared.

I STARTED DOING DEEP CONDITIONING TREATMENTS: THIS IS KEY to recovery!! While you're cutting your dead ends, putting down the flat iron and using bleach less, you can add weekly treatments to give your curls some much needed TLC. I try to change up which deep conditioning treatment I do weekly with different options by buying sample packets. I use a lot of the Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut & Shea Butter Deep Conditioner, Hask Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioner and ECRU New York Acacia Protein Intensive Hair Masque. I alternate between these products and they really do help with bringing back moisture, taking care of my dry ends and adding shine.

I GOT A GREAT CURLY CUT:
After allowing my hair to grow and getting my healthy curls back, I still wouldn't allow my hair to just be! I think I was still scared to release the lion's mane. My whole life I was surrounded by friends and family who only had straight hair or would straighten their curls so I didn't know how to love my hair or know how to fix it for that matter. I'd try to tame it as much as possible to avoid frizz and letting it get big and playful. So after chatting up with one of my hair inspirations @curly.edgy about different products and getting a great curly cut to shape my curls, I finally got my best curly hair cut to date. I like to thank Mona from Muze Salon in NYC for that, she listened to my concerns regarding my hair and really helped me start to appreciate my healthy curls with the perfect haircut. If you are in the area, hit her up and say my name for 10% off your first cut from now till the 19th of March.

I EMBRACED THE FRIZZ & FOUND THE RIGHT PRODUCTS FOR ME:
A lot of us feel too scared to ask advice to our fellow curly beauties and I think the best way to get educated about the terminology and which products to use is to research and to ask questions! No shame in asking your favorite curly inspiration for some advice about products and tips on how you can better your hair, especially since they've already got their regimen down and can give you some great advice. I had to ask, research, learn about product ingredients and test over 10 products to get my favorite products down. Once I figured out what porosity my hair was and what curl pattern I had, it made it easy to narrow down products. Everyone's hair is different, so get acquainted with your hair and figure out what your hair needs to strive to its fullest potential. I have 3b/3a and low porosity curls and find that my top choices for my hair are the Devacurl line, No-Poo Decadence Cleanser, One Condition Decadence and the SuperCream Coconut Styler in combination with the Bounce Curl Light Creme Gel. I sometimes switch from the SuperCream Coconut Styler to either the Marc Anthony Kinky Curl Conditioner as a leave in or the Garnier Fructis Leave in with the Bounce Curl gel. The cream moisturizes my hair and hydrates it and the gel defines my curls. I started to add the gel because it plays an important role in how long my curls will last.

I hope I answered most of your questions and I don't think you should be as extreme as me in your curl recovery, it was just what worked for me. I wanted a fresh start because I was so frustrated with my curls and it took a very long time to genuinely love it! Message me if you have any questions!! Keep your head up, it gets better!

Viva el Peru!!

I recently took a trip to Peru to visit my husband's family. We took 8 days off to throughly enjoy and hang out with everyone as much as possible. The weather much different than NYC was hot and very dry.

Hair:

I was worried my hair was going to be a nest, but it turns out it did okay in the dry heat. Like any curly girl I was contemplating what products to bring and how much of it was going to be enough. Since I was checking in my bag I wasn't worried too much about quantity. I ended bringing Hask Shampoo and Conditioner with the Devacurl Supercream, Marc Anthony Hair Care Kinky Curls Conditioner and the Bounce Curl Gel. I figured I'd use either the Supercream or the Marc Anthony Conditioner with Bounce Curl Gel to style and switch off between the 2 creams. My diffuser ended up not working with the plugs they had and I was mortified, but it literally was so hot I just sat on the steps for 25 minutes outside the front porch and my hair was dry!! As much as a diffuser is convenient in the colder weather months, nothing beats air drying in the sun and using a hair pick for volume!

Places:

My husband and I stayed with his grandpa and family in Huaral which is a very small town that reminded me a lot of my own little town in Brazil. Huaral is located roughly about an hour and a half from Lima where the airport is. We stayed there most of our stay, but we made our way to MiraFlores and Lima to explore as well. I have to say MiraFlores is a lot nicer than the center of Lima, where the Government Palace is located. MiraFlores was really pretty and looked a lot like South Beach, definitely catering to the tourists who possibly want to relocate. The views were gorgeous and I loved seeing mountains which isn't what I usually get to see living in Brooklyn haha.

My husband's family were so sweet and threw me a little birthday party and I got to meet most of his family. They were all so generous and genuinely happy people who cared so much about family. They welcomed me in like their own and I felt so comfortable and enjoyed the endless excitement of seeing one another each day.

On my actual birthday date we went to see the Eco Truly Tour which is located about 20 minutes from Huaral called Chacra Y Mar. It was a nicely organized tour and the speaker spoke Spanish very slowly which helped me follow along.

Near Huaral there was also a place 20 minutes away called Chancay where the beach was and it was breathtaking. My husband indulged me in my photo taking addiction to shoot my new bathing suit from Lola Bikini, paired with my ZeroUV sunnies and thrifted high waist shorts.

Food:

Oh the food, I didn't leave one plate without it looking like I licked it clean. From the Ceviche to the Tacu Tacu, the food was delicious and I'm pretty sure I gained at least 5lb during my stay. My husband's family knows how to cook and every meal was tasteful and I devoured every plate like it was my last.

See you soon Peru, I loved my stay and I loved the people even more.

Working Out with Curly Hair

So if you have curly hair you know the struggle when it comes to working out. Do I want to skip the gym to avoid having to fix my hair again? Well compromise no more, I too get frustrated with this and decided to show you guys what has worked for me. I also want to mention that Uniqlo has so many cute workout clothing so I obviously had to snag a few pieces to rock out at the gym! I try my hardest to go to the gym at least 2-3 times a week, I work full time and it's hard to make it everyday. I'm currently with Crunch Gym, they have late classes which work for me because I get off work at 7pm and still can make it to cycling or a cardio class.

Ya that's right, NYC has yet again stolen Spring. I love New York, but I despise this cold weather. I'm first Brazilian, than I was Floridian so excuse the constant crying about the cold. I'm just not in love with the cold, it's suppose to be Spring, Damnit NYC! My curls are dying for warmth and I can't wait for it to actually come. Aside from the weather, life is pretty good and I'm ready to go to Miami in 12 days to shoot and beach it with my friend Maddy. My company has off for 1 week for Passover so I'm indulging in this opportunity to travel.

Kylie Jenner Lipkit Review

KOKO K:

POSIE K:

If you know me, you’d know I love me some matte lipsticks. I love trying out different colors and think I look my best with a nice lippie. Now I have tried many matte lipstick brands and can say I was really impressed with the Kylie Jenner Cosmetic’s line. I was able to snag 3 of the matte lipsticks before they were completely sold out in colors; KOKO K, POSIE K and 22. She restocks every 1-2 weeks or so and if you download her app you can get notifications as to when exactly. I however I was creeping around on Instagram (cause nobody got time to pay $2.99 a month for an app, sorry Kylie) and saw that someone from her Instagram comment section posted the restock times and was able to get a few.

I am quite white in complexation, bless my soul, it’s been a long sun-less Winter in NYC. So I felt the colors looked different on me, especially the Posie K which was more of a bright purple than what it looked like online. I however appreciated the consistency in all the color’s I have tried, they were all super easy to glide on, stayed on all day and did not dry out and chip. My biggest pet peeve with matte lipsticks are how very drying they are immediately when applying. This makes it hard to add more on the lips without feeling like it’ll start to chip off around the corners of your lips. Kylie Cosmetics was very smooth and felt a lot like how NYX mattes feel when applying, very creamy and even. The price point is $29 and it includes a lip liner pencil with every lipstick which very easy to use and works wonderfully.

She recently launched her Metal mattes and I was able to yet again grab 2 colors; KING K and REIGN. I very excited to try out these metals especially since they’re matte because I’m not a huge fan of glosses. I was unable to get Heir because I guess everyone really wanted that one and it was completely sold out. I’m not going to lie, so far I have been very swayed by her mattes. I know she has the huge influence being she’s sorta the lip queen regardless that she has lip injections, she should be proud of herself (side note: if you had her previous lip’s amongst your gorgeous sisters you’d be doing lip fillers too shiiiii). She has also been listening to her customer’s complaints about the gloss brushes and I see she has taken action. So I give her an A+, she’s learning and correcting her mistakes as she goes so I can’t knock down her success. I don’t by any means aspire to be Kylie Jenner or any of the Kardashians, but hey I loved her lipsticks so shoot me.

Miami Bound

I recently took a trip to Miami with my good friend Maddy, who snapped pretty much all the pictures of me in this post. We stayed in an Airbnb 2 blocks from the beach and the location was perfect, restaurants and bars were all super close by. I needed some sun in my life and I was lucky to have a week off from work due to Passover, thank you to my Jewish Employers. We got to hang out in Wynwood which reminded me of Bushwick, where I'm located in Brooklyn. I definitely felt copy cat vibes, but I appreciated the walls of art nonetheless. I lived in Florida a good portion of my life in Tampa, 4 hours from Miami so I wasn't foreign to the location. I'll be back in June with my husband to visit his family!

With the NYC weather being disgusting lately it's hard to feel like dressing up into something other than black. I know better than to get excited for warm weather and blue skies till like June 1st. So even in the morning rain I opted to brighten up my day with this all nude/tan look. I love monochrome outfits because I love how everything comes together in a very cohesive and matching way.

My Set Up/Snapchat Hands Free How To

Here is my humble makeup/hair and social media content creating station. My very kind husband helped me with hanging the curtain on the ceiling and my vanity table that's actually a baby changing table. If you follow me on Instagram/Snapchat you'll see quite a bit of content where I use my ring light.

My set up is simple, the ring light I have is the Interfit Ring Light that's 19inches sold at BH. It has a gooseneck so if you want to have it on a stand you can most definitely do that as well. I just like laying it against my wall to save room. The light is very powerful and I usually take my selfies with my iPhone's back camera, not the front selfie camera. The reason being is that the resolution on the front camera is very low and the images come out rather soft and the quality is poor. I also use my Sony RX100 III that has a flip out screen for selfies, the RX100 III has a chip called a sensor that makes up the image quality that's going to be about 8-10 bigger than your iPhone. So it's whatever you can afford and make the best of it to achieve the best results!

When doing videos for Snapchat that require me to use both my hands like a quick hair tutorial for instance. I use a technic that I did not discover myself, I found out how via the interwebs from Tech Insider! Here's how to Snapchat hands free:

---Open the Settings app and go to General---

-----Go to Accessibility, scroll down and click on Assistive Touch-----

-----Turn Assistive Touch on and click Create New Gesture-----

-----Press and hold with one finger in the center of the screen to let it record your touch. The blue bar at the bottom will fill up once the touch has been recorded-----

-----Save the gesture-----

-----OPEN Snapchat and click the gray circle on your screen-----

-----Then click Custom-----

------Then click on the gesture you saved------

-----Now you should see another gray dot. Drag it over Snapchat's record button and let go-----

Another cool thing to invest in is a Cellfy Smartphone Suction Cup Mount, this allows you to have your phone stand up on its own on a mirror when doing your hair or a porno whatever you're into.

There you have it! Follow me on Snapchat: HortenciaCaires and Instagram: @stylefeen I usually post my daily life, tutorials and curly hair tips!

I love where I live, that’s factual because I’m always shooting by my apartment and if I want to hang out, I hang out in my neighborhood. So when I see a fun bar to shoot in I’m all for it and that’s exactly what Boobie Trap is. The combination of the funky interior design, crude humor and the lack of fucks they give for shitty Yelp reviews makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I find myself buying work appropriate clothes because well I spend 42 hours a week at work and I already have a hard time picking out outfits in general. Every morning I struggle with picking something that's true to my style, but kosher as well especially when all I wanna do is show my elbows haha. I love finding pieces that work with what I like and it's great for work. This skirt for instance is a prime example of biwinning, I thrifted this at Buffalo Exchange and it just works so good with my favorite colors right now which is nudes, browns and military green. Have you guys ever thrifted something amazing?? I absolutely adore when I find something at a thrift store for cheap, who doesn't like a great deal!

Balayage Highlights With Mona Baltazar

$

0

I recently made an appointment to get some highlights done Balayage style with my favorite hairstylist, Mona at Muze Salon in NYC. As always I like to obsess over everything I'm indecisive about so this time it was bleach.

First off, what is Balayage, Balayage is a hair coloring technique designed to create very natural-looking highlights that grow out without developing a noticeable and obvious root.

Bleach the devil that sits next to the flat iron in hell are the two things in life that make my curls shake in fear. I vowed never to touch bleach and I vowed never to touch a flat iron when my curls regained their health back, but sometimes the need and want for something different over takes you and you can't deny yourself a little fun. Mona states that, "Color or bleach is nothing to fear. Do your research and be realistic with the color that you want, always be honest with your hairstylist about previous color that has been done to your hair. Already colored hair is more challenging than virgin hair (that has no color) to work with. For an example, box colors and black are harder to lift so make sure to get a consultation with a colorist or stylist that you feel confident would do an amazing job. Taking it slower is best for your hair, don't expect to be blonde over night."

So before you say YES to bleach, ask yourself is my hair healthy enough to endure bleach? Have I done my research? Do I have a great colorist? Am I being honest with myself and my colorist in reference to my hair history? And if you answered yes to all of the above than I think you are in the clear. Just remember to think about the future of your hair's health!

You'll want to start deep conditioning your hair religiously to regain what your hair has lost, so keep the extra maintenance in mind when deciding about bleach/color.

Here is a quick video on my experience at Muze Salon:

Miami in Style

My husband and I took a trip to Miami recently to attend his 10 year High School Reunion and to also visit family. The trip started off hectic, we almost missed our flight and Delta misplaced our luggage. Despite the hurdles we had to maneuver across it ended up being okay in the end. We got together with a few friends and headed out to the Reunion and I enjoyed catching up with my husband's friends and chit chatting with new ones. Our outfits were found at Express, the jumpsuit I bought along side these heels looked perfect together. My husband, Zamie looked handsome in this blue suit paired with a brown belt and shoes from Aldo.

The Miami heat was beaming and the color scheme of our outfits certainly matched our surroundings. This colorful romper is from H&M and my shoes are from Payless, yes you read right they're so comfortable and inexpensive who would have thought!

My little yellow swimsuit cover up is also from H&M and my flip flops are Havaianas purchased in Brazil. I love when good finds match multiple outfits and last you a long time.

To keep my hair moisturized and frizz free even though I didn't mind some frizz for volume. I used a combination of 2 products, the Potion 9 by Sebastian Professional and Bounce Curl Crème Gel. I was recently introduced to Potion 9 when I went to Muze Salon for my color, Mona my hairstylist recommended me try it out and I was so impressed by the slip and hold. I used this for the past 5 days when it was time to style my hair and I gotta say I was shocked on how light yet effective it was. I have been missing out because this product has been out on the market for decades!!

Curl Fest 2016

This was my first ever Curl Fest event and it definitely will not be my last. Devri of NaturallyCurly.com and I scouted the premises of the reserved Prospect Park grounds where hair brands, clothing and accessories showcased their products.

I wore my new Boohoo dress which was the perfect outfit for a hot Summer day. I'm so glad I wore something light and airy because the sun was beaming and I was sweating! As you guys know, I'm obsessed with chocker's so when I saw this dress online I knew I had to have it. The lavender color was the perfect shade to go well with my light lavender Reeboks.

I was happy that I got to meet so many Instagram friends in real life, it's always fun seeing all the beauties you admire online in person. I also met so many new faces that came to me to say hi, I felt so honored that people even knew who I was. I am passionate about providing creative and personal content for my fellow curly hair chickas and it's fascinating to see how quickly people have gravitated towards my hair and regimen.

That goes to show you how the natural hair community are not only loyal, but exploding with new comers! I love that so many of us who felt weird and unhappy for rocking our natural textures have come to realize that our hair is beautiful and there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Key things to bring to Curl Fest next year if you're thinking of going is:

-Water
-Cash (most vendors and food trucks were cash only)
-Picnic blanket
-Sunscreen (if you burn easy and because skin)
-Snacks (lines to get food were very long)

You may be in some of my photos I took when Devri and I walked around, the Dropbox links is HERE. Don't forget to credit me @stylefeen! See you guys next year fam!!

Hot Summer Day

New York does not play! I can sit here and complain about this overly humid weather, but I'll choose to rejoice instead. I'd much rather be hot than cold any day anyways. My backyard, if you can even call it that, is needing some TLC. Even though the overgrown plants are out of control, I don't mind the non concrete feel we sometimes want to escape from. In this heat, I like to embrace my God given curves I fight so hard to shed at the gym by wearing high waist shorts and crop tops long enough to be tucked in. Sipping on some Jarritos and enjoying my favorite season in New York is exactly what I need.

My Top 5 Compact Vlogger/Blogger Cameras

$
0
0

So back in 2014 I wrote a blog post about my top 5 compact cameras for $1000 or less. This time around I'm going to talk to you guys about my top 5 compact blogger cameras for $1000 or less. As a blogger I look for 3 key elements in a camera:

1. Good quality/low light capability.
2. Flip screen for selfies and videos.
3. Wi-Fi.

I'm going to first tell you guys what to look for in order to obtain good quality images/video and low light capability in a camera.

Image Quality:

The bigger the sensor size, the better your image quality will be. What is a sensor? A sensor is the chip that's inside the camera that records the data that makes up the image, the bigger the better is true in this case. Below is an image sensor chart that showcases the phone sensor all the way up to a full frame sensor which is what most professional photographer's use. Please relay back to this chart to see how big my top 5 camera's sensor size is in comparison to the phone. The resolution aka the Megapixels are not important unless you're printing, I wouldn't worry about a camera having 18MP vs 24MP because if you're posting these images online, chances are you will not note the difference.

Low light capability:

A lot of the times we find ourselves under very low light situations and we want our camera to be able to capture great images regardless of these low light circumstances. So be sure that the lens on the camera you're buying has a wide aperture aka a wide lens opening in order to allow more light to come in into the camera. The smaller the aperture number on the lens the bigger the lens opening will be therefore, better in lower light. Here is another chart to see how those smaller numbers on the lens (aperture) play an important role on how defocused your background (shallow depth of field) and great in low light it'll be:

Here we go:

This list goes from smallest compact camera to medium size camera (no big and bulky big options here, we have enough to carry).

1. Sony DSC-RX100 III Point and Shoot - $798

If you have seen my YouTube videos and some of my higher quality selfies it was taken with this camera. Since I don't like to talk while recording this camera works fine for my needs, its small and compact and great for traveling. I usually record voiceovers for my videos, if you like to talk whilst vlogging chances are you need a mic jack input and this camera does not have it. The RX 100 III has stereo capabilities and it's definitely going to pick up more than just your voice while you are recording. Aside from that, the quality is high and as you see below it has a one inch sensor, check out the chart to compare.

Sensor size: 1"
Lens: 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 | 3x Zoom
WIFI/NFC
Built-in flash
1080p @ 60p, 30p, 24p
Screen resolution: 3inch LCD 1,229k dots
Screen flips out
Pop Up Viewfinder
Supports RAW

2. Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II Point and Shoot - $699

The Canon G7X II is very similar to the Sony RX100 III because they share the same quality, WIFI capability, no mic jack input and flip screen. The pros of the G7X II is that it has a longer zoom and touch screen, the reason you'd gravitate towards the Sony is because of the viewfinder which is helpful when it's too bright and you can't see the LCD screen. They're both small and pocket-able, so it's a matter of preference and what features you'd benefit from more when deciding.

Sensor size: 1"

3. Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 Mirrorless - $697.95

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 is very video oriented, so if you want to get that 4K video capability this one is a great option. I personally think 4K is the way of the future, but its a little overkill for me. I don't edit on a 4K monitor nor do I have a 4K TV so until then good ol' 1080HD is good enough for me. The Panasonic G7 allows you to change lenses so if you want a better lens in the future you can always upgrade, you have 108 options to choose from.

Sensor size: Micro Four Thirds

Lens: 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 3x Zoom

4. Sony Alpha a5100 Mirrorless - $598

Sony a5100 is one of my favorites from the lineup because it has our top 3 must have features like the quality, WIFI and flip screen. The APS-C quality is pretty much the highest quality you're going to get if you want a flip screen.

5. Canon EOS M3 Mirrorless - $599

OHHHH SNAP! High in quality, WIFI, flip screen, MIC JACK INPUT and the ability to add a viewfinder onto the hot shoe. This Canon M3 has everything a vlogger/blogger could ask for and its also very small for such a big sensor. You can also change lenses on this camera to achieve different focal lengths to best fit your needs.

BONUS FEATURE: Nikon 1 J5 Mirrorless - $496.95

I wanted to include the Nikon 1 J5 as an option to those who would like a small compact camera much like the Sony RX100 III and the Canon G7X II with the ability to change lenses.
