Cord-sets

Cord-sets are all the rage these days! I'm kidding I'd never say that in real life. Although that statement is kind of true, matching sets like this one from H&M fulfills my need to match everything very easily.

Sometimes I'm lazy and coming up with an outfit seems near impossible when I'm in a rush, so something like this is a no brainer. My hair already takes up enough of my time, my outfits shouldn't preoccupy anymore of it.

Deva #Froday Event

What an amazing event I attended yesterday with my girl Talisha! Devacurl and @frogirlginny brought together all us curly heads to embrace, educate and enjoy each other for #froday. Froday was something Nia created 6 years ago whilst learning to embrace her curls and it has blown up ever since with over 13 thousand pictures posted via the #froday hashtag. This event was just what I needed after a long work week, the positive vibes were high and I loved every second of it.

It was lovely to catch up with some  familiar faces and to meet new ones! Below you'll find a link to the Dropbox link where all the photos I took from yesterday are! Be sure to tag @stylefeen when you post them online.

Forever Growing

Lately my impatience-ness has gotten the best of me. I'm unsure exactly where I'll land in life, but all I know is that I try to continue to progress and evolve. And no matter where I land it'll be evident that I worked hard to get there because I believe in a strong work ethnic.

Sometimes we lose sight of what we are trying to achieve and what we want in life. It's always important to take a step back to reflect on what you are doing and how far you've come. It's okay to be proud of yourself, remember to take yourself out for a treat or buy that outfit you've been eyeing. Success shouldn't be about how much money you make or how many followers you have on Instagram. If you measure success through these forms you'll never be truly happy. "Success is about creating benefit for all and enjoying the process. If you focus on this and adopt this definition, success is yours.” I'm unsure who said this quote, but I always try to remind myself that success is about the journey not necessarily the end goal.

You are forever growing.

How to Deal with Cyber Bullying

$
0

Ever since I started embracing the volume and frizz of my hair, and truly loving it, some people have felt the need to share their opinions of my current style. My hair is bigger now, and has become the unfortunate target for unsolicited comments:

“She’s culture appropriating!”
“Your hair looks like a poodle!”
“Can you fix your hair?”
“You look like a sheep.”

Comments like these make me laugh.

I can't culture appropriate the curly hair that grows out of my own head.
I like poodles.
My hair doesn't need to be fixed.
And I also like sheep.

Whether or not these are valid comments, the second someone posts something online, it allows others the opportunity to express themselves, even if it’s going to hurt your feelings. More often than not, those who have taken the time to comment are usually friendly and lovely - so I don't have any reason to complain about the haterism.

But for the times when an unwanted negative comment slips through the cracks, I try to stick to the following:

1. IGNORE THE COMMENT
The best thing to do sometimes when haters leave rude comments on your page is to IGNORE! IGNORE! IGNORE! Why provide attention to people who sit behind a computer and comment on your posts in a negative way? A lot of time I just ignore it and leave the comment there so the world can see how dumb they are. It's my favorite tactic.

2. DELETE THE COMMENT & BLOCK THE HATER

Depending on how severe the comment is, sometimes a little 'block & delete action' needs to happen! Inappropriate comments that are both rude and disgusting do not need to be seen by others. It’s one thing to be mean, but another to be inappropriate. The repeated offenders need to learn their lesson. The drive-by visitor who comments on a blog post is usually easy to ignore. If someone is constantly harassing you, it's best to just block them and never have to worry about their unwanted, disturbing comments again.

3. KILL EM WITH KINDNESS

A good dose of kindness never hurt nobody. When a bully leaves a comment that makes your blood boil on a topic close to home; educate them. But pick your battles. We all know some people can’t be taught, and chances your reply will ignite their fire even further. I like to engage in comments asking a question.

A comment like:

“White people rocking their hair like Afros now?”
Irritates me because:

1. You don’t know my background.
2. Hair picking your hair for volume does not equate it to being an afro.
3. WHO CARES? I have curly hair and will style it however I feel like it.

Remember that at the end of the day it’s your page.
You can post whatever you want.
If someone doesn’t like it... then tough.

Also note that what people say online can be uncalled for and undeserved. These types of comments are not something you should let hurt you. (Even though I know this can be easier said than done!) I have totally taken these comments to heart and let them affect me in a negative way.

As much as I wanted to share the tips above, I also wanted to remind myself of what to do, how to react, and keep it moving. People can suck. But you don’t always have to listen to what they’re saying. Good comments resonate far more positively than negative ones. Concentrate on the positive and appreciate them with a quick response letting that person know you took the same time they did to comment.

As the saying goes, “You ain’t winning unless you have haters!”
SO LET 'EM HATE!

Swimsuit Summarize

$

Every winter, I dream of summer... and when it finally comes, I take it for granted. This year, I was determined to fully appreciate the hot weather and go to the beach as many times as I could.

With every trip to the beach, I wore a one piece suit because it's not only flattering, but sexy too. I also am not a big fan of my stomach - I'm working on it at the gym and by drinking Teami Blends... It's just not up to my standards yet. - So my go-to swimsuit is a one piece, forever and always. I can eat junk food on the shore and not worry about looking like I have a 6-month-old-food-baby!

Here's a full run down on all of the beach sessions I had this summer:

American Apparel:

I have a few AA swimsuits because they know how to do a high rise! Pelvic cleavage is sorta my speciality -- haha!

H&M:

When it comes to buying swimwear in NYC, ordering online is usually the only way. Most places don't really carry swimwear in the store, so when HM does I'm sure to hunt it down and snag one or two.

Forever 21:

I'm totally not a surfer, but this suit was calling my name when I saw it on Forever 21's website. The fishnet design at the top and the vivid blue drew me in immediately!

Nasty Gal:

If you have some extra room in your budget, Nasty Gal has some pretty dope swimsuits that are unique and edgy. I bought this American flag bathing suit a long time ago for Fourth of July and have worn it every year since.

Afropunk Brooklyn 2016

$

Afropunk 2016 was beautiful. I love feeling the energy and love that comes with a crowd that is so diverse and powerful. From the performance to the beautiful souls who roamed the grassy areas of Commodore Barry Park on Saturday, August 27th it was all good vibes. I unfortunately left my professional camera at home thinking they wouldn't allow interchangeable lens cameras as per the info on their site (boy was I wrong, there were cameras everywhere). Although these images goes to show how the quality of my small point and shoot, Sony RX100 III still provided bomb ass pictures.

I'm very happy that I got to attend Afropunk for the first time even if it was just for one day, I'll most definitely be attending again next year. Sometimes a good positive experience is all you need to reboot on inspiration. The fashion, the hair and the message was evident and I'm glad I was able to capture some of the lovely souls I came across.

Afropunk is described by The New York Times as “the most multicultural festival in the US,” it promises an eclectic line-up and an audience as diverse as the acts they come to see. This statement couldn't be anymore true, I felt it in the air the second I walked in.

Things to bring (for next year):

Refresh spray of choice for your hair.
Paper towels and wipes (to clean hands).
Positive attitude and a great outfit.
Picnic Blanket.
Camera.
Cash.

"Teami? DOES THIS THING EVEN WORK?"

$

I’m sure you’ve seen it on Instagram; the Teami Blends tumbler in hand with the BS caption below about how it’s such a great tea and you think, “PUHLEASE. Does this thing even work?”

I had the same thought. But, after discussing it with a few friends who have tried it; I decided it was worth a try myself! It seems as though every woman has a hard time with her lower abdomen and bloating no matter how well she eats right and works out. I have always dealt with bloating issues myself.

Determined to reduce some of my own bloating issues and gain some energy, I decided to try the Teatox (30 day detox) by Teami Blends which consists of the skinny tea and the colon tea. You know what they say... “Don’t knock it till you try it.” So I did!

*Images from Teami*

After 4 weeks, in my experience, this tea does exactly what it claims.

Here is what they claim:

·REDUCE YOUR BLOATING AND SUPPRESS APPETITE- Helps You Reduce Bloat To Achieve That Flat Tummy that you have been working for! Aid Your Digestion and Get Rid of Toxins To Help Relieve Excessive Bloating.
·DELICIOUS TASTING TEA GLUTEN FREE, NON GMO, VEGAN, DAIRY FREE, SOY FREE - Delicious Blend Of Traditional Organic Herbs With Oolong, Yerba Mate, Green Tea, Lime leaf Extract, Lotus leaf, Ginger Root, Dandelion leaf, Rhubarb Root Senna Leaf & Root, Hawthorn Berry Extract, Lotus Leaf, Lime Leaf & Extract, Psyllium Husk Seed, Phaseolus Calcaratus Seed, Poria.
·ENHANCE WEIGHT LOSS - Specifically Formulated To Enhance Your Weight Loss Program With Traditional Organic Herbs That Aid In Digestion and Eliminate Toxins Released From Fat Cells During Weight Loss. Helps Burn Fat Faster and Increases Your Metabolism Resulting In Natural and Safe Weight Loss.
·DETOX YOUR COLON - Reduce Inflammation in your Colon in order to Detox Toxins out of your body naturally. The Toxins in your body prevent you from losing weight and that is why detoxing is SO important!

Directions:

The Teami Skinny is meant to be taken every morning upon waking up in order to wake up the body and start boosting your metabolism right away. • Every other night, beginning on the 2nd night of the Detox, make a cup of tea using our Teami Colon and drink right before bed. *If you forget to drink the Teami Skinny first thing in the morning, don't stress! Just drink it as soon as you can during the day.

My tummy looked flatter and my energy was improved! I usually drink coffee in the mornings and drink Skinny tea at night. Technically, it's suggested to drink the tea in the morning to give yourself the energy boost after waking up... But, my mornings can be pretty crazy, so I usually don't get around to drinking the tea when I have a few minutes to spare later in my afternoons. This works out for me, because I prefer getting a boost of energy when I come home from work. This little boost of energy later in the day allows me to work on my photography, blog, and other personal projects. The Colon tea I drink the night before my day off once a week, it’s suggested you do it every other night, but I work full time and can not be going to the bathroom all day. Although it wasn’t uncontrollable and scary when I did do it, so don’t fear!

Drinking this tea wasn't about losing weight (although, I wouldn't be opposed to that!) but to try to help me with my bloating problems and lack of energy. Even doing it in a way that better aligned with my schedule I still saw these improvements so imagine if I did it correctly as suggested.

Remember this isn't a magic tea, working out and eating right is essential to notice results!

Because I have such faith in this tea, I now have the pleasure of working with Teami to help spread the word! They've offered to help me share my enjoyment with my friends with a discount code! I don’t know about you, but I LIKE ME A DISCOUNT so feel free to use code: FEEN or FEENSNAP for some money off if you’re looking to try it for yourself!

While Teami has provided a discount code, this post is not sponsored by Teami Blends.

I hate the cold even temperatures below 70 degrees piss me off. I was born in Brazil then I moved to Florida so you can understand my love for warm and hot weather because I strive in it and so does my hair. Now being in NYC for the past 6 years I'm still crying about the cold. Every Winter makes me want Summer and the cycle continues, however I'll love New York no matter what, even if she's a cold bitch for more than half the year. Fall fashion however I love, I guess the cold has some perks, like sweater dresses and thigh high boots! Cha Cha Match was the meet spot where I discovered I hate Matcha, sorry? Meet Faye, she's the sweetest and the one in some of the pictures and who also indulged me in taking my pictures too!

Good culottes are always a win in my book.

I don't know if you noticed, but I like matching like colors together to create a cohesive look. Monochrome is the goal.

Rather I'm going out to brunch or heading to work a versatile outfit like this one makes for chic wear, without the extra fluff. I recently came across an online clothing site called StyleWe where I got these pieces! Basically the site is a platform where various independent designers sell their clothing and I love the concept of having all these cool and innovative designers at my fingertips.

Curl Brunch

Curl Brunch - located at Paloma’s Mexican Cuisine this past Saturday afternoon was a successful celebration of curls!

Like anything else I plan, I like to put out a message that resonates well with us ‘curlies.’ This time around, the theme of the event was all about embracing the frizz! Frizz, as many of you know, is practically unavoidable with curly hair! We all strive for the perfect definition and volume, but sometimes we just can’t avoid frizz. But, that is okay!

Repeat after me: “IT’S OKAY TO HAVE FRIZZ!”
Now repeat it again… and again… and again...

Now that it’s embedded in your membrane, let’s discuss the products that help minimize unwanted frizz (which were in the goodie bags the first 15 curlies in attendance received)!

Ouidad Mongongo Oil-
This multi-use oil can be used as a conditioner, leave-in, and finisher for all curl types. This liquid gold elixir leaves all types of curls soft, manageable, and illuminated with healthy shine. Its main ingredient is Mongongo (duh!) also known as "hair food" in Zambia for its high concentration of Linoleic Acid, Omega-6, and Vitamin E.

Bounce Curl Light Crème Gel-
This is a lightweight styling gel. This product has a holding ingredient to help define your curls. It is
has mostly gel-like and cream consistency. It will leave your hair feeling weightless and it will lock your curl shape in for a long time, reducing frizz. Black seed oil is one of the secret Middle Eastern oils that has been used by Merian’s (Bounce Curl founder) and her family for many
years.

Jane Carter Solution Frizz Free Styling Smoother-Frizz-Free Styling Smoother is the perfect product to add to clean, wet hair. It can be used to reduce frizz and encourage your own natural curl as well as work as a heat protector when blow drying and flat ironing your hair. Frizz-free
can also be used as a daily hair nourisher in the morning to revive tired hair. Slumber Party in the PM, Frizz-Free in the AM.

Unfortunately, some products didn’t make it in time for this event, but there’s always next time!

Bounce Curl owner, Merian graced us with her presence mid-drink and totally surprised us with some extra goodies for prizes for a mini-trivia game that was enjoyed by all.

Below is a link to all of the pictures from the event! Tag @stylefeen (photographer) and @435menahan (restaurant) when sharing on social media! PICTURES FOR YOU GUYS!

NYE Dress Options

It’s that time again where we are debating what to wear for NYE; the outfit you’ll spend a fortune on that you’ll only wear once. Aside from the obvious reasons as to why you’d feel like you want to look good on this glorious evening of debauchery and no regrets, it’s a momentous night to remember so hell yes I want look like Sasha Fierce. In figuring out if I want to wear something practical or over the top, I came up with 3 choices that’ll have to pick between on NYE. I’m a person to plan ahead, last minute NYE shopping isn’t my idea of a good time. Online shopping is my go to method for dress shopping for events because well, lets face it, over crowded stores filled with shoppers alike doesn’t sound like a good time either. I like looking at things in an organized manner if the shop I’m buying from online exists in person, I’ll figure out where and try them on in store before buying. The options I have bestowed upon you are all from Boohoo, they always get me with their 50% off sale.

Depending on where you are going for NYE, you might want to consider the proper attire that best fits your environment. This year, much like last year I’m attending a warehouse party. Warehouse parties can be tricky as it’s probably not the most fanciest of locations to party, but in my experience the most nonconventional fun.

Things to consider if you’re going to a warehouse party:

· You’ll be dancing the night away on a cement floor, so COMFORTABLE shoes is a must.
· Small purse/clutch would be ideal because you’re probably not going to find a place to lay your stuff down (unless you got VIP access).
· Port-a-potty are kind of inevitable in a warehouse party, so always bring tissues for your eyes (since it’ll be cold) and in case the toilet paper runs out and trust me, it always does.
· Cash! Bring that SHIZ, god forbid your drunky a$$ forgets your debit/credit card at the bar.
· Warm coat that you don’t mind losing, it happens more than you think. I once did coat check one year and they didn’t do the tickets in numerical order and couldn’t find anyone’s coat, talk about nightmare (BangON!, NEVER AGAIN).

So with all that in mind, I think this year I’ve graduated to senior warehouse attendee. However now that I’ve reached level 10, this year will most likely be my last warehouse party. So I’ll live it up one last time before reverting to my grandma status ways. The older I get, the more I want to be the official brand ambassador for the infamous snuggie.

Vacation: Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

Oh Mexico, you were lovely. A beautiful place was picked for a much needed vacation. 2016 was bad, but did you die? And did you ask yourself if you've overcame the struggles? Then I think we can both agree that if anything, 2016 made us stronger. Marissa and I embarked on this vacation to create content and slay and we did just that!

From the beach to the food, everything was perfect.

Restaurants I recommend are:

100% Natural - Breakfast, lunch and dinner. We hit this spot a few times for breakfast as it was conveniently located by our Airbnb and the famous 5th Avenida.

La Vagabunda - We, like all tourists, came across this restaurant by complete chance whilst shopping for souvenirs. Please do me a favor and try the sopa de mariscos! Marissa and I are still dreaming about it.

Zenzi - Okay so we didn't venture too far off from the tourist spots, but the food was amazing everywhere we went and at Zenzi the views matched. This was the place for a good and strong margarita by the water so I wasn't hating on how basic I was being.

Airbnb we stayed in: Mercedes was accommodating and super easy to access especially when we forgot what our safe lock code was, I blame the Tequila. This place was cozy and so close to all the action located on 5th Avenida.

My Micropigmentation Experience

$

0

Who else is over filling in their eyebrows everyday and dreaming about Cara Delevingne's eyebrows wishing they were yours? *Raises hand* Me! So today on the blog I wanted to share with you about a procedure that I had the pleasure of indulging myself in.

So let’s get educated shall we? Eyebrows are the frame for your eyes and face, when designed properly; they can lift the eyes for a more youthful appearance. The procedure called "Mircropigmentation" fills and defines the shape of your eyebrows giving it a more softer look than pencil shaping. This procedure is perfect if your eyebrows are sparse from tweezing or shaving. The Feather Hair-Stroke Technique is the newest revolutionary 3-D effect for semi-permanent make-up eyebrows, and is great for filling in the sparse areas of the brows so that they naturally blend with your own hair.

Nayoung who has her own studio in New York grew up in South Korea where women emphasize and take great pride in skincare and aesthetics. Nayoung attended Christine Valmy International School to study skin care and she also participated in the Image Consulting Program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). I felt very confident in her when she did my eyebrows, I’m not going to lie I felt a bit scared at first, but after reading her reviews on Yelp and seeing her work I knew she’d do an amazing job! Suffering from over plucking and “too lazy to fill in my eyebrows everyday” syndrome I gave Nayoung the green light to make my makeup routine easier by enhancing and improving my eyebrows.

I wanted to also share my experience with you guys so below is my interview with Nayoung and a short video showcasing the process:

What are some things we need to know about your micropigmentation services before going ahead with the procedure?

1. I recommend you research the artist's style, technique and expertise. I would advise you to also check their portfolio and client reviews before you decide to see the artist.

2. You have to consider your skin type, this procedure is also not recommended for pregnant women or women who are nursing.

3. Check if you have upcoming events, like a vacation or a wedding because after the procedure you will need at least 5-7 days to heal! Don't worry though, they will still look natural, but it's not recommended to sweat, have facial treatment, swim or tan before the healing.

4. Make sure to not schedule close to your menstrual cycle, as we know our body get so sensitive within that time and a lot of blood circulation will affect pigment retention.

5. Do not use retinol or oil products at least 3 days before your appointment.

Once decided, how should the client show up to the appointment?

I personally don’t mind that the client shows up with makeup so that I can see the client’s daily make up style and brow shape which helps me to find the best shape for each client’s feature. If the client has sensitive skin which can get red or swollen be sure to not have plans after the procedure.

You drew the shape of my eyebrows before numbing them for the procedure, why is that?

This is a big part of the consultation to catch what the client's needs are, I know some clients who feel very nervous about the procedure so I’d rather draw the eyebrow first so that the client feels more comfortable and knows what to expect with each session.

Why is preparing the eyebrows with numbing cream important? Does it hurt?

Everyone has different skin types and pain tolerance, most client's feel comfortable during procedure, after the numbing cream.

What tattoo gun/needle do you use when doing semi permanent makeup?

At Beauty Artist, I use a customized digital machine from Germany which has a gentle vibration. Micropigmentation is new technology in the field of hair-pigmentation, the needle is extremely thin, sharp and flexible.

How do you typically choose the eyebrow color?

We have to be sure to choose the shade that will blend in with the particular coloring of your natural features. Based on the client’s skin complexion, color of eyes and hair color/density.

On average, how long is the whole procedure?

It normally takes about 90-120 mins depending on client’s skin condition. Initial appointment includes consultation and initial application.

Once finished what are the after care processes and when does the client have to come back for a touch up?

Be sure to use after care products that I provide for at least 5-7 days in order to heal the brows.  Do not use oil and Vaseline products because oil affects the pigment and it will smudge your eyebrows. Try not to sweat for 3 days, avoid sun and swimming. After it is healed, client needs to come back after 6-8 weeks to get a touch up which is included in my price.

Once touch up is healed, how long does the color stay before needing to re-do them?

This depends on client’s skin type and life style. Generally the eyebrows last up to 10-18 months.

What happens after a year?

The strokes sort of blend and it ends up looking like a powder-filled brow more than it looks like distinct strokes. This all depends on the client's skin and how well it retains the pigment. I suggest a touch up every 6-8 months.

What is a Breather?

First off, what is a Breather? Breather is a website/app that allows you to rent spaces by the day or hour for multiple reasons, such as photoshoots, meetings, small events, etc. I first heard about the Breather app probably about 2 years ago through a friend who wanted to photograph me.

Why should you use a Breather? Well that's for you to decide. I personally think that it's a great option if you're looking to create content in different environments. Sometimes we don't always have the luxury of a well lit apartment or even a larger space to create, that's where Breather comes in. Spaces range from $30+ the hour, it's an inexpensive option that allows you to "fake it till you make it" for a lack of better words. For bloggers, photographers and models it's an ideal solution for shitty weather like these New York winters. The above images were taken in the Breather below. If you want to try Breather for yourself, us my code: SAN5JP and get a $45 credit towards your booking!

Images by Breather

Location: 55 West 19th Street

Breather
is simple. After you download the app and sign up, you have a selection of places to choose from, depending on what you'll be using the space for would determine the design you'd choose. You can select the date/time slot you'd like and when you arrive you'll receive a building code/door code to access the space. So far I've booked a few, but these were my favorites. The lighting from the large windows and the interior were clutch for photographing for the blog and Instagram.

Traveling to Belize: Things To Do

$

I recently had the chance to visit a beautiful country called, Belize. After landing, I took a ferry straight to San Pedro which was about an hour and a half from Belize City. I would recommend this island over Caye Caulker because it's a lot quieter and yet they're both very similar. I stayed in a quaint room called Park Place, the reviews seemed promising and I love browsing Airbnb places over hotels any day. The receptionist, James, was so helpful, he gave us a map of the island and circled his favorite places. So I wanted to share with you guys a few of the things I highly suggest you check out if you ever go to San Pedro.

Secret Beach, which is located in Ambergris Caye, was incredible!! I was so glad to have made the 30 min bumpy golf cart ride there (which btw, you can rent by the day between the prices of $50-80 all over the island). This not so secret beach was both calm and clear with a bar on sight equipped with yummy drinks and food. The hammocks and beach chairs were a nice touch to indulge in after galloping around in the water (because you're too excited to do anything else).

Searious Adventure was some serious adventure forreal. I unfortunately did not bring an underwater camera to showcase to you all of the cool fish and sharks I saw, but I promise you it was well worth it. Searious Adventures have a variety of different tour options to choose from if you want to do more than just snorkeling. The instructors who took us were so friendly and both of them had a great sense of humor despite their witty business name.

Skydive Belize, fuck. I couldn't have chosen a better place to jump out of plane!! Skydiving was a liberating experience, the kind you don't get by being dragged off of a plane (looking at you, United). I'm not too fearful when it comes to things like this, unless you're a white man in a dark alley not too many things make me freak out. Only kidding. The best way to not freak out before something happens, is to literally not think about it. I got up there, and like a sponge, absorbed all the views which were insane! I highly suggest you guys checking them out in Belize, if not they also have a skydive base in Colorado for the warmer months.

Melt Cafe, was THE breakfast spot! Most places don't open up till 11am for breakfast and this place opened at 7am everyday. I ordered their fruit bowl and bagel melt and it did not disappoint. They had a wide range of breakfast, lunch and dinner options to devour all while sitting in front of the beach.

Palapa Bar and Grill even though I did not have food here, I did have their delicious micheladas! If you don't know what a michelada is and love salty and spicy anything, google it. Behind the bar there is an area to swim and float in black floaties... the Instagram desaturated blogger's dream. My saturated (not desaturated, because I like to look tan in my pictures) dream was fulfilled, but not without struggle. If you want it, you must go for it and don't be afraid to fail!

Overall I have nothing bad to say about my trip, the weather was amazing, the people were friendly and the views were gorgeous!

Weekend Oufits With Tobi

I spent the weekend in Philly for the first time ever and I wanted to be sure to bring pieces that would coordinate well with my short weekend plans! This little blue dress was a must have when I stumbled upon it via Tobi.com. I'm a sucker for anything with pockets and since it's almost Summer, I figured I'd make great use of this sleeveless and short dress combo. I ended up getting three things from their website and I brought them all to Philly to shoot in my quest for the yummiest Philly Cheesesteak and Airbnb cornicles.

Yes yo girl got herself an off the shoulder dress because I love me the ability to rock chokers and off the shoulder anything is clutch for that neck real state. No, but seriously this dress was something I've been on the hunt for because it's flowy and can be dressed up or down.

Shoes: Forever 21
Choker: Aso Dara

I couldn't resist getting this mesh bodysuit in the color nude because it's something I don't have in my closet and I always appreciate pieces that can add to my existing wardrobe. Not to mention a little see-through top never hurt nobody. And that concludes my weekend outfits brought to you by a little retail therapy from Tobi.

Dippity-do Girls with Curls

So as all of us curlies know, the never ending need to try out new products never stops. I can have my regimen down to a T and still feel this burning desire to try something new out. Since our hair goes through these phases of different needs given the weather change or recent dye job, our hair needs different things at different times. So of course I’m always down to try new things and give it a proper review. I had the pleasure of reviewing a brand called Dippity-do Girls with Curls, the packaging itself left me very excited to try out these curly hair products. I don’t wear too much pink, but I can appreciate the color because it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

The whole line has me quite impressed to be honest. I used the Curl Shampoo and Conditioner and I gotta say the combination of shea butter and coconut oil was clutch for my recently dyed hair. My hair, even before I went blonde, always screamed for moisture and these products really quenched my hair’s never ending thirst. It’s important to start a good wash day with a shampoo that does not strip your hair of its natural oils and a conditioner that really aids your hair of split ends and frizz without leaving build up.

Moving on to styling, I used their Curl Defining Cream in combination with their Curl Boosting Mousse. I absolutely hate styling products that are sticky or leave my hair oily, but these stylers were perfect. It left my hair feeling defined and soft with minimal frizz. They both had a very manageable consistency so I was about to evenly distribute product with no issues at all. So all and all, I’d recommend these products, they’re priced relatively very inexpensive and they come in decent sized bottles which should last you months depending on how many times you wash your hair/style.

Curl Fest 2017

Curl Fest 2017, what can I say... The vibes were there, positive and beautiful vibes.

This is my 2nd year going to Curl Fest and it did not disappoint. I love the energy, the love and the networking aspect of it. Much like last year, I met up with my curly buddies for some much needed picture taking and catching up. Curl Fest is really about everyone coming together and embracing their natural texture and showing love to those who are trying to do the same.

This year's Curl Fest was extra hot, no matter what I did I could not escape the heat! My mistake this year was not bringing a water bottle and snacks, they did have water and food, but lines were insane and I was not about that waiting life. Despite the heat, everyone was looking snatched AF and a little sweat mustache never messed up no one's mood. I cant not wait for next years Curl Fest, I feel like it gets bigger every year and nothing makes me more happy then to witness the natural hair acceptance continue to strive and grow.

So if you been on my Instagram feed lately you’ve probably noticed I traded my NYC streets for some Bahama blue waters and sandy shores. This trip was provided to me by Frizz Free Curls, they were celebrating their 15 year anniversary and hit me up back in March to see if I’d like to join them amongst 18-19 other bloggers. I was 1. HONORED and 2. ECSTATIC. Of course going to any country you haven’t been be for can be somewhat scary, especially since I didn’t know any of the bloggers who were joining me. Little did I know I was going to bond with everyone so well and make such good connections and friendships.

So this blog post is to show off what we did in the Bahamas, from giving back to the community to enjoying the beautiful sights. I want to thank Mahisha and Janelle for inviting me to be a part of this trip and to their whole team who were so detail oriented to everything they did. GUYS, even the pillows in the hotel room matched their blue and yellow product line color scheme.

Day one: August 3, 2017 – Landed from NYC, Looking like a damn mess since I was up a 3am to catch a 6:30am flight. I immediately saw one of the CURLS girl telling us to link up outside where a bus was coming to drive us to Warwick Hotel roughly 40 minutes from the airport. Once being greeted with blueberry infused champagne we checked in to to our hotel room. There were products on products from CURLS, good thing too because I didn’t bring any because I knew they’d be providing all the faves! I got ready for their network meet and greet and dinner. This was perfect to really get to know the girls.

Day two: August 4, 2017- I woke up late as hell because I had passed out on the bed from being so tired and forgot to set my alarm. -__- I got ready quickly and met with the girls to go to Carmichael Primary School to hang out with lovely young local ladies. We helped them create dream boards where we'd cut out different things via magazines of things that popped out to them; words, places, houses, styles and inspiring women. This allowed them to really have a visual presentation of what they want in their lives and aspire to strive/work hard for those things!

Day Three: August 5, 2017 - This was an early day because we were headed to Exuma where I saw the clearest water I have ever seen. This was such a beautiful experience, we took so many photos! The boat ride was about an hour and a half and definitely worth it. We had the option of snorkeling, but I decided to just relax and lay out instead. A few of the girls joined and that's definitely when I got my sunburn. After coming back we got ready for our last dinner together and touched base on how the experience was for us. A special thank you goes out to CURLS for bringing me out and showing me some major love!! They just added 3 new products to their line, the Blueberry Bliss Milk, the Blueberry Bliss Refresher and their Scalp treatment. I've tried all of them and they work so well.

Here is my VLOG about the whole experience, it is about 16minutes long, but this was a 3 day trip so bare with me haha. This is my first ever vlog, definitely learned a lot from it and will most likely vlog again. I hope you enjoy it!!
